To coach and train athletes of all ages, fitness enthusiasts and individuals looking to make a commitment to long term health.
The Optimum Performance Center uses research based training techniques to help clients move through developmental skill levels quickly and safely, maximizing their results.
Our mission is to bring a whole-body philosophy and results driven performance enhancing programming to our clients.
The Optimum Performance Center is owned and operated by Michael and Michelle Gaugler, Lehigh Valley residents, who had a dream to open a facility that was not like a commercial gym and was rooted in research based equipment and training techniques.
Michael and Michelle have experienced years of frustration trying to find a gym that has the tools and equipment that are proven to provide safe and fast results. They could not find one. So the Optimum Performance Center was born. Not meant to be a traditional commercial gym, where results are hard to achieve, the OPC will help clients achieve their sports performance and personal fitness goals.

Strength and Conditioning Coach
Graduated from Pen Argyl in 2007 lettering in Football (3 year starter) and track and field and boasted 1st Offensive Center and 1st team Defensive End senior year. Walked on at Bloomsburg University and played as a true freshman. Unfortunately, a knee injury and subsequent surgery ended a promising career. Majored in Exercise Science, interning at the University at Buffalo after sophomore year, getting the opportunity to coach defensive standouts Khalil Mack and Richie Smith.
His interest in weightlifting began after losing 80lbs at the age of 12 by focusing on working out and nutrition as well as briefly breaking the deadlift world record at age 17. His knowledge grew through education and while rehabbing his injuries in college, the experience solidified his will and need to help other athletes correct what he could not alone: to avoid injuries and be the best athletes they can possibly be with all the tools they could ever need.
Josh is certified strength and conditioning coach and a personal trainer and is currently completing his performance enhancement specialist certificate. He was proud to be named Juniata’s Strongest Strength Coach 2017 and is a professional acoustic guitar player and singer.
